Birth: 6 lbs 13 oz

Growing like a little weed and her cheeks are totally showing for it!  I could nibble her cheeks all day long, and she totally lets me without a peep of objection.

This sweet one is filing out her 0-3 month clothes and still wearing size 1 diapers.

whats new..

We are all smiles!  Last month we were still learning the ins and outs of ‘being a happy girl’, but this month she has completely mastered her baby grins.  She smiles in response to anyone saying hello and talking to her in a sweet voice.  She especially loves looking and ‘chatting’ with her sisters.  The moment Parker and Jolie come near she lights up with joy across her entire face.  The twins love it!  They love that she responds to them now!  She also has started to respond to actions she likes/enjoys.  I started singing to her this month and doing arm movements and ‘exercises’ with her legs (mainly the bicycle movements).  She smiles so big when we do ‘patty cake’.. the first time I sang this to her while clapping her hands I caught myself and giggled a little..

“..baker’s man, bake me a cake as fast as you can..”

She LOVES to suck her thumb..and will grab her ears now when she sucks her thumb and not just when she nurses as it was last month.

LOVES

her swing – she naps in the swing at least once a day.  I am thankful for this love because it makes it easy to get things done around the house or taking care of the twins when she will sit contently in the swing // sucking her thumb – the greatest form of self soothing ever.  Jolie didn’t find her thumb until she was well over 5 months old. // her hanging toys – especially her elephant on the carseat and the hippo that hangs from her bouncy seat // her wubby- although she doesnt suck on the paci part, she loves to hold him.  Just like Parker. // bathtime, but hates the after bath rub down with lotion // nursing – she would nurse all day long if I let her

HATES

her carseat – BUT it is getting much better and not every car trip is a meltdown.  I can see the light at the end of this tunnel // being alone – she is the most social baby on the planet.

E A T

Baker remains on a pretty consistent schedule.  She sleeps and eats and plays around the same time every day.  3-4 hours is normal, eating 5 to 7 times every day.  The usual ‘scheduled’ feedings: 6am-7am every morning when she wakes and then 10-11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm-9pm before going down for the night.  We hit our 3 month growth spurt- and for three exhausting days I fed her around the clock.  I was so anxious and filled with questions about if she was getting enough because she was insatiable!  I remember growth spurts vaguely with the twins, so of course it is all new to me.  Feeding her all over the place- but mostly every hour.  She was waking up about 4am to eat and then hungry again by 5am and again at 7am.. and the rest of the day proceeded.  Finally, I felt like my milk supply caught up with her and we have slowly been getting our groove back.  That picture above was the first feeding in what felt like eternity that she was gulping milk and feeling satisfied after she ate.  

Relief.

Since then Baker has been waking about 5am to nurse, but we have slowly gotten back on a normal schedule.

I continue to pump whenever I am able – often first thing in the morning I can get about 6-8 ounces after feeding Baker.  I try to pump after that feeding because she gets pretty satisfied on that first meal of the morning and will nap and go the longest between feedings (about 4 hours) than she does the rest of the day.       

 P L A Y / D E V E L O P M E N T

Baker has gotten SO good at tummy time!  She will hold her head up and tolerate tummy time for longer than about a minute these days.  She will actually lay on her tummy for about 10-15 minutes before she’s totally over it. Eye contact and focus has been another huge change this month.  She seems to be very aware of her surroundings and intently observes and takes in what she sees.  She follows whatever has her attention with her eyes and then proceeds to move her head to seek her interest after it has gotten out of her line of sight.  She had become VERY vocal.  I am sitting with Baker in my lap and she is cooing, screeching, and cawing as I type.  She become pretty active and I have found her almost completely turned over in the swing- even buckled in! Speaking of turning over.. Baker rolled over this month!  She rolled from tummy to back.. like it was no big deal!  We have been doing tummy time on the boppy and the moment we let her do it for a few minutes on the floor, so turner herself right over.  I was SO excited about this!  I didn’t witness this baby first with the twins because I was at work the day they did it for the first time.  So I was nearly in tears when this sweet girls did it right in front of me. Her daddy was sitting there, too! When laying on her back she can roll completely to her side but hasn’t quite figured out how to turn all the way to her tummy just yet..but I’ve been helping her turn all the way over once she gets to her side.

Its only a matter of time!  

Other developments..

She’s basically stuffing her entire fist in her mouth.  I am pretty sure we are at the early stages of teething.  Her thrashing while she nurses sometimes, the way she sucks hard on her thumb and pulls it out wincing in what seems like pain.. DROOL.  Often she will pull off from nursing and stick her hand straight in her mouth.  The twins started with these signs early as well, so I am not totally convinced that she will pop a tooth anytime soon. 

-Blowing spit bubbles and playing with her tongue!  Did you know that spit bubbles is a developmental milestone?  I didn’t either until I read it on my Wonder Weeks app.  She blows spit bubbles ALL the time – especially when we are playing and talking to each other.  Baker totally tries to mimic her sisters and follows their lead when they make the ‘oohhhh’ sound.  

-She gets SO excited when she observes something she likes.  She flaps her arms and squeals with delight.  Its probably among my favorite moments of the day.  I want 47 more babies just so that I can see that excitement for the rest of my life.

-She bats at the hanging toys and will even shake her toys that make noise.  We are still working on holding the toys, but she has gotten really good at it!  The twins like to hand her toys and get so excited when she grasps them out from their hands.

S L E E P

This girl is an awesome sleeper.  She take 1-2 long naps during the day – usually about 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon around 2pm.  I’ll nurse her at the 2 o’clock feeding and she will fall asleep and not even budge when I lay her in her crib.  She sleeps from 9pm to about 7am (with the exception of this last week when she’s been waking at 5-6am to eat).  I totally appreciate her sleeping through the night and I’m glad we got this figured out before

I go back to work next week:)  She is still sleeping in our room in the pack and play, but most likely we will be moving her out in the next month.  I’m not ready to move her out, and I don’t think her daddy is either.  I still wake at night on my own to check on her and its easy to just reach over and rub her head and back.  I love having her close.

You my little miss are the absolute LIGHT of our world.  I couldn’t imagine not having you in our lives, and I know the rest of our family can agree.  You are in your fourteenth week of life, and the last 14 weeks have been such a joy.. even when your mama feels like she’s chasing her tail most of the day just to keep up with you and your sisters.  You are one of the happiest babies I’ve ever met and how lucky am I to be your mama.  I love sitting and snuggling your sweet cheeks over and over and you don’t seem to mind at all.  Your big sisters absolutely adore you and basically smother you with sugars.. and once again, you don’t mind one single bit!  You are the most social little bit on the planet.  As long as someone is in front of you lending an ear to your babbles, you are as happy as a clam.  You always love to be right in the middle of everything and when you start to fuss because there isn’t anyone in your eye’s view.. I come back quickly to reassure you that no one left and call you ‘little miss drama’.  You respond with a gummy grin as big and wide as you can and bury your face to the side of your arm as if to say “you know it, mom!”  I tell you a million times a day that I think you are HILARIOUS and you just smile back at me in agreement.  You are so playful and will pop off right in the middle of a meal and just study my face until I smile at you and you grin in return and go back to nursing. 

We play this game a couple times a day..your personality is pretty infectious and I look forward to the little games with you.

You are so ticklish! Your daddy will blow raspberries on your belly and you will squirm and smile with your eyes.. you haven’t quiet figured out the relationship between the tickles and the laughing.  But in no time I know your daddy will have you giggling with the rest of them.  Speaking of giggles.. you giggled for the first time this month and Oh.My.Word. I just about died.  I was doing whatever it took to get a little belly laugh out of you..and I’m sure I sounded so silly- but I wanted to hear you laugh over and over again! It brought tears to my eyes to hear that kind of happiness out of you, sweet girl.  Of course you haven’t done it again since that ONE time, but I cannot wait to hear it again!  You LOVE to sleep.  I’ve even had to wake you up a time or two in the morning to eat, and you’ve looked at me, stuck your thumb in your mouth and closed your eyes tight to go back to sleep.  Funny girl.  You are a mover and a shaker- bouncing your little bootie around as you kick your legs about.  You’ve found your hands and have them in your mouth 99% of the time.  If they aren’t in your mouth they are in front of your face with balled fists.  You are so vocal and will screech with excitement at the lights on the activity mat and the hanging animals on the swing.  My favorite time with you has to be a toss up between your baby naps on my chest and the sweet little conversations we have in between.  You make all kinds of noises and the newest is the squealing and squeeks when you are excited.  I cannot get enough of you.  Even at 4 in the morning, you still make my heart go flip-flop as I study your sweet baby eyelashes and fair baby skin.  I could trace your baby nose and chubby cheeks all night.  So proud of you this month, big girl.

THREE Months!  Time is totally flying.
