Best Christmas Morning Breakfast Ideas

We love breakfast in this house! You have seen how many eggs our family goes through. Christmas morning is no exception. Here are some fail proof recipes that can be put together the night before and cooked first thing in the morning. 

Apple Pie Monkey Bread

Ingredients

  • 24 oz small refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice
  • 2 apples peeled, cored, and diced (any variety will work)
  • 1/2 cup butter

Instructions

1. Remove biscuits from tube and cut each biscuit into quarters.

2. Place cut quarters into large mixing bowl.

3. Add sugar and apple pie spice.

4. Toss gently to coat pieces well.

5. Add diced apples to the bowl.

6. Toss again to incorporate all ingredients together.

7. Spray bundt pan with non-stick spray.

8. Spread biscuit mixture evenly into pan.

9. Drizzle melted butter over the top of the biscuits in the pan.

10. Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes – until brown and bubbly

11. Cool for 5 minutes. Loosen sides of cake and flip pan over onto a rack to cool completely

Eggnog Coffee Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 C All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2/3 C Eggnog
  • 1/4 C Sour Cream
Crumb Topping
  • 1/2 C butter (softened)
  • 3/4 C Brown Sugar (packed)
  • 1 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Glaze

  • 3/4 C Powdered Sugar
  • 4-5 Tblsp Eggnog
  • Pinch of Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Nutmeg
Cake
1. Preheat oven to 350º. Spray a 9×9 pan with non stick spray.
2. In a medium bowl, combine: butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix by hand or with a mixer.
3. Add flour, salt and baking powder and mix to combine. If the mixture is crumbly, that’s ok. 
4. Add eggnog and sour cream and combine until mixture resembles cake batter. Pour into prepared 9×9 pan.

 

Crumble Topping

1. Combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Cut butter into mixture until it resembles crumbs.

2. Top cake batter with crumbs.

3. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted.

Glaze

Combine glaze ingredients and whisk together. Drizzle over top of cooked cake and serve.

Crockpot Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients

  • (1) 26-ounce bag frozen hash browns no need to thaw
  • 3 cups shredded cheese – we used cheddar
  • ⅔ cup white onion chopped
  • 1 lb bacon diced or 1 lb of crumbled cooked sausage
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half or whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
Directions
1. Cook the diced bacon or sausage until crisp. Drain and set aside.
2. Spray crockpot with cooking spray. On the bottom of the crockpot, spread half of the hash browns, half the onions, half of the cheese and half of the bacon or sausage.
3. Repeat until the ingredients are gone.
4. In a bowl, whisk eggs with half and half or milk. Season with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
5. Cook on low for 8-9 hours.
6. Enjoy
Feel free to add hot sauce or avocado.

Sausage Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of pork sausage
  • 2 C of Bisquick
  • 1 lb of sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix. Form into 1″ balls and place on a baking dish

3. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
