I cant believe I’m filling easter baskets! already! Easter ranks up on the holiday list like Christmas for me, aside from the obvious Christian/spiritual reason, I love this season and time of year- Spring time offers the most beautiful weather here in Texas!
finding creative ways to fill the baskets for my kids is really fun for me! I don’t usually have a hard time when planning a bit ahead for Easter baskets because I tend to stick to the same kinds of items every year.. if I don’t, I find myself just buying random little trinkets that I end up throwing out in about a month! the target dollar spot KILLED it this year on Easter filler, and I’ll go ahead and confess to grabbing several items from those bins! cheap bubbles, bath bombs, lip gloss, paint + canvas kits, coin purses, wooden toys, and unicorns galore (which is perfect because the girls are a little obsessed with unicorns at the moment).
I always get pajamas, one or two spring/summer items (like a swimsuit, sunnies, bubbles, or chalk), something for their creative side (like new markers, colored pencils, or a sticker book), a few small toys, and a girlie item (like bubble bath, lip gloss, or bath bombs). we hit up a couple egg hunts + festivities the weekends leading up to Easter, so I typically skip the candy all together because they end up getting plenty.
I’ve done a wire basket the last few years for the girls (I originally got them at h&m) and when I couldn’t find one similar for Brady last year I went a different route. I had seen the Pehr designs bins on instagram a couple times and loved the idea of using them for easter baskets! at the time they had a deal going, “buy three, get a limited edition bin for free“, and it happened to be colors that fit more on the boy side. I don’t see the striped bin available on their site, but they have a charcoal grey pom bin that is on sale right now.. SO cute. my OCD side is really tempted to grab the charcoal one so they are all matching and coordinated with the poms..
Jordan would kill me. lets move on. I mentioned these Easter basket name tags last week on the blog- and they are even more amazing in person. I might have squealed when I hung them on the baskets! Parker, Jolie, and Baker are are totally into purses right now! I found a couple of really cute coin purses in the Target dollar bins and also included a cross body purse for each girl that they picked out a couple weeks ago, also from Target.special easter plates x 4! the personalized plate has the cutest designs for all occasions! I have a set of four of these already and we use them for almost every meal. they hold up well, even in the microwave and through multiple runs in the dishwasher! no cracking, chipping, or fading at all.for the girls, I always include cute hair bows for spring! these oversized hand-tied bows from Modern Piggy match their easter dresses.. not to mention the blush stripes will carry them through the season.
this year I threw in personalized stationary from my local friend Steph of JOY creative shop! probably not something Brady will get a ton of use out of yet (although they would be perfect for his birthday party thank you cards), but the twins are getting better with their letters/writing skills and love for me to help them send little notes to grandparents and their neighbor friends. I especially love the gift tags and family name stickers she offers!
I found the most darling gingham ball cap for Baker to wear poolside this summer and threw in some fun frosted donut necklaces from the girl Frankie to wear with their summer dresses and tank tops. can I get away with wearing a frosted donut necklace?
having girls is SO MUCH FUN. swim suits- my favorite part of buying for easter baskets! I always get the kids a new suit- I about fell over when I ordered these from pink chicken! they tend to run a bit small, so make sure you order from their size chart! (for reference: Parker is 44″ tall + 44lbs and I went with a size 6 for her. Jolie is 38lbs and about 39″ tall and went with the 5T.) I linked a couple more bathing suit options below! ah.. my favorite baby boy basket! Jordan picked out a couple of summer t-shirts for Brady and I grabbed a pair of short john jammies from hanna andersson! the cutest initial ball cap for Brady and a pair of suspenders for wearing on Easter Sunday! I threw in say yes.. paper face masks for the girls + orange creamsicle bath bombs for each! I hid unicorn lipgloss in the girls’ coin purses for a sweet surprise when they open them up. I also found flower grow kits in the Target dollar spot for the girls to do with their daddy.
our favorite dress up sticker books and my little pony bandaids fill the bottom of their baskets. don’t forget bubbles and new chalk! those are easter basket staples 🙂
I linked a few more ideas below so be sure to check those out!happy (almost) easter!
