Christmas Bark

The holdiays are such a wonderful time to spend baking and cooking in the kitchen. My kids have so much making cookies for a family, friends and neighbors. Yes. It can be messy, but I want them to have these memories. One of our favorites is Christmas Bark. Once you start, you can’t stop eating this. We have also enjoyed making this for Valentine’s Day as well.

The kids favorite part is adding sprinkles while the chocolate is still hot and melting. We run out of sprinkles real fast in our house with this recipe.

Christmas Bark

  • 40 Saltine Crackers
  • 1 C Unsalted Butter

  • 2 C Chocolate Chips (any variety of your choice)
  • Sprinkles – because they make everything better

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with foil
  • Place saltines in neat rows
  • Add butter and brown sugar to a medium saucepan on medium-high and cook and stir for 2 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and bubbling
  • Pour evenly over crackers making sure they are all coated
  • Bake for8-10 minutes then remove the pan from the oven and add the chocolate chips.
  • Put the pan back in the oven for 1 minute.
  • Remove the pan and spread the chocolate to evenly coat the melted chocolate, then cover with sprinkles
  • Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until fully cooled before removing and breaking into pieces.

We love doing cookie exchanges. It’s so fun to see the creations everyone comes up with. Do your traditions include a cookie exchange? What are some of your favorites? I also came across this site which has a lot of sweet choices.

Now, I’m going to grab my Christmas Bark and enjoy the kids being home. Happy holidays!
