6 Must-Have Baby Items {Some we still use}

There are a lot of baby items out there. It’s hard to know what you will really need and what you will really use. There are so many different types of bottles, pacifiers, diapers….the list goes on and the decision fatigue is real. Since I’ve been through this {literally} a handful of times, I am listing 6 must-have baby items – some of which we still use.

1. Owlet Monitor

I wish I would have had this when I had the girls. We got this when Baylor was born. He had to stay in the NICU and I’m so grateful when we brought him home that we had this monitor. It gave me such peace of mind knowing I could check on him without disturbing his sleep. It is a little pricey, but it would be a great group gift or you may even be able use HSA funds to purchase this monitor.

2. Snuggle Me or DockATot

helpful baby sleeping tips

The Snuggle Me was a great option for the earlier months when the babies were so tiny. We used this as a lounger around the house – not so much as a place for sleep. The Snuggle Me gave their little bodies a hug similar to if I were holding them.

As the kids got older, we transitioned to the DockATot. We still use this for Baylor. When all 5 kids want to sleep together {which is most nights}, we can’t have him all over the place. And he really loves being it.

3. Newton Baby Crib Mattress

This is another investment piece, but if you break down the cost by the number of days this mattress will get used, it is worth every penny. We love the Newton Crib Mattress. Baylor is still in his crib and this mattress is really easy to clean. The crib cover comes off easily and we just throw that into the washer. The crib mattress, itself, can be rinsed off completely in the shower.

If your baby is a face sleeper, you need to order this mattress now.

4. The Nested Bean Sleep Sack

I LOVED these little sleep sacks. This little sack is an absolute game-changer. There is a little added weight on the chest or the back depending on how your baby sleeps. The straps are adjustable and the 2-way zipper made diaper changing easy in the middle of the night.

The Nest Bean Sleep Sack is one of my go-to gifts for any baby shower I attend.

5. Diaper Bag

When you have 5 kids, you need a diaper bag that is going to hold up and hold a lot. I found that in the Fawn Design Diaper Bag. A diaper bag is the momma’s personal pick and style and maybe the one thing that allows her to express herself. I was searching for a backpack diaper bag when I came across this one. It held up well for me over the years.

6. Hatch Sound Machine

We love the Hatch! It has so many functions. Ok to wake, time to rest, night light, sound machine. Everything can be programmed using an app on my phone. Baylor will come turn his Hatch on when he gets home from school and it’s time for a nap. It doesn’t take up a lot of room with the sleek design. I love that it serves as a nightlight and a sound machine.

It can be overwhelming when you start to think of your baby registry list. These are just my favorite 6 must-have baby items I have loved over the years. Enjoy every part momma. It really does go by so fast. If you are beginning to think about what to put in your hospital bag, I’ve listed out the essentials, items just for you, and what to bring for your new little bundle here.
